본 연구는 코로나19의 사회적 표상과 방역규제에 대한 반응이 예방행동의도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 조사하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 감염병의 사회적 표상이론, 행동면역이론, 사회규범이론, 심리적 반발이론을 통합하여 분석모형을 구축하였다. 본 연구는 서울시민들을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 바탕으로 사회적 표상, 사회규범인식, 심리적 반발, 예방행동의도 간의 관계에 대한 매개인과 가설을 검증하였다. 첫째, ‘나’와 먼 타자화, 가까운 타자화, 신의 형벌 표상은 사회규범인식을 증가시켜 예방행동의도를 증가시켰다. 둘째, ‘나’와 먼 타자화와 신의 형벌 표상은 심리적 반발을 증가시켜 예방행동의도를 감소시킨 반면, 가까운 타자화는 심리적 반발을 감소시켜 예방행동의도를 증가시켰다. 이러한 분석결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 예방행동의도 향상방안을 정책적 시사점으로 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 방역규제가 과도하게 개인의 자유를 침해하고 불필요한 의무를 부과한다고 인식되지 않도록 하여야 한다. 둘째, 방역규제가 법적 규범을 넘어서 사회규범으로 인식되도록 유도하여야 한다. 셋째, 가까운 타자화 표상으로 인한 위험인식의 연대가 예방행동의도를 지속적으로 향상시킬 수 있도록 하여야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to empirically address the effects of social representations of COVID-19, psychological reactance and social norm on preventive behaviors such as social distancing and mask wearing. The analysis results of survey administered to Seoul citizens are as follows: First, the representations of distant othering, close othering and divine punishment raised the perception of social norm and then raised preventive behavior intentions. Second, the representations of distant othering and divine punishment raised psychological reactance and then decreased preventive behavior intentions. Third, the representation of close othering decreased psychological reactance and then raised preventive behavior intentions. Based on these results, this study suggests the following measures to improve preventive behavior intentions as policy implications. First, it must be ensured that government regulations are not perceived as excessively infringing on individual freedom and imposing unnecessary obligations. Second, government regulations should be induced to go beyond legal norms and be recognized as social norms. Third, the solidarity of risk perception due to the representation of close othering should enable continuous improvement of preventive behavior intentions.
